Hon är på väg ut ur hemmet när hon ser kuvertet. Jamilas familj har fått avslag på asylansökan. Hon låtsas inte om det, drar lillasyster med sig till skolan och möter upp kompisarna. Men vart hon än vänder sig ser hon dem plötsligt överallt – poliserna. Sophie Vuković (Shapeshifters, 2017) ger en drabbande inblick i en uppväxt präglad av ovisshet.
KATTHAT

Två råttor, en far och hans son, som bor i en förort till Stockholm, upptäcker en dag att en katt har tagit sig in i deras hem. Pappan kastar ut den, men katterna fortsätter komma tillbaka. Faderns frustration ökar medan barnet börjar se dem på ett annat sätt.

Under ett år förlorar Yahya tre av sina bröder. I en koja kan han leva i sin fantasi och möta dem igen. Han kan prata med dem, röra dem, fånga dem, sakna, bära dem och bli buren. Med ett drömskt och kärleksfullt språk berättar Alexander Abdallah poetiskt om dödsskjutningar och mansnormer.

NIGHT BAT
Regi: Eleni Chandriotou, Cypern / 4 min
An animation created for the avant-folk music trio Monsieur Doumani from Cyprus, Nychtopapparos (Night Bat) follows the awakening of the night bat beneath the rising full moon, accompanied by the other creatures of the dark. In Cypriot slang, “nychtopapparos” also embodies the restless spirit of those who wander sleeplessly through the night. The animation weaves three interconnected narratives, exploring the concept that “the dreams of those who sleep become the inspiration for those who stay awake.
MY GRANDMOTHER IS A SKYDIVER

Alfyia, a joyful young woman in 1960s Central Asia, is actively parachuting and studying to become a midwife, when she receives an extraordinary phone call from her granddaughter in 2022. She is worried about her grandmother’s safety amid the invasion of Ukraine. In this intergenerational conversation across time and space, the granddaughter tries to restore and rethink family memory and her own ethnic identity, break the endless cycle of collective trauma and reflect on the meaning of human life.
