This exhibition is based on an open call and includes artwork by artists from around the world, ranging all the way from Sweden to Vietnam to Australia to the Netherlands to name a few. The video contributions are selected purely by the quality of the video while not adhering to a specific theme, creating a wide range of videos touching on topics like “neighborhood anxiety”, body ideals, family history and the correlation of mind and memory. Galleri CC received a large number of submissions and also decided to include a huge number of participants to give you a proper visual marathon to enjoy.

Video art, since its start in the 1970’s, has gone through rapid changes both in its position in the art world and by constant technological advancements. Today with the presentness and accessibility of the Internet we are seeing a huge change in how artist and film-makers apply new forms of genres like re-mix videos, collage-based documentaries with direct links to the interface of the computer and glitch effect experiments that are interconnected with the language of the world wide web, while floating around in “The Cloud”. Social media has also changed how we experience video content. With online platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo and Snapchat, it has never before been as easy to share and distribute artworks to a large audience. Video art couldn’t be more relevant in a time when everybody is a film-maker and everybody is a user and observer simultaneously. “LOOP – A video art marathon” is our attempt to exhibit a broad range of artists and film makers that both work intertwined with the web but also outside of it, through loop based sequences, experimental and poetic story telling, performance-based video footage and longer documentary films. The exhibition will consist of several rooms, each showing a screened program of submitted video art and films – presented both on flatscreens and on a large screen in a black box in the basement.
